‘HorseMan‘ by Sue Brelade (SOLD)
I named this sculpture ‘HorseMan’ as, when rotated, it presents as either a man or a horse. In creating this work I sought to explore the role of the viewer in determining the nature of an artwork. The sculpture is an abstract, neither man nor horse. What is seen is a synthesis of the angle of vision and the tendency of our minds to arrange what we see into familiar forms. This is as true in life as it is in art and this sculpture serves as a reminder. (click on any image to enlarge)
